The Raptors faded badly in the second half last night as the Sixers got hot shooting from multiple positions. But the Mavericks managed to close the deal putting an end to Utah’s season. My NBA Playoffs picks are 11-7.
NBA Playoffs: Grizzlies (-1.5) Vs Timberwolves $$
The Grizzlies can close out the first round of the NBA Playoffs with a win in Minnesota tonight. They won game 5 in dramatic fashion with Ja Morant making the last-second layup at the buzzer for the win.
Anthony Edwards tied that game with just 4 seconds remaining on an amazing shot from the corner. He followed that up with a terrible defensive mistake going high side on the inbound pass and allowing Morant to get to the rim for the winner. It was a terrible mistake by the inexperienced yet talented Edwards. That sequence sums up this series in a nutshell. This series was there for the taking by the Timberwolves but they are plagued by mental mistakes and an inability to close out big leads.
What we haven’t seen thus far in this series is a complete game from the Grizzlies. They lead this series despite not yet playing to their full capabilities. Ja Morant played his best game in game five willing his team to victory almost single-handedly. He responded to Towns sushing off the crowd and punishing him for his premature celebration. I expect the Grizzlies to put it all together tonight with a total team effort to get the closeout.
