The Raptors dumped the Sixers last even without VanVleet and Anunoby in the lineup. James Harden was a no-show with just 13 points as I predicted yesterday. My NBA best bets ticked up to 29-14 (67.4%).
Best Bet: Hawks (-1.5) @ Heat $$
The Heat opened as favourites for this game as would be expected for a first-place team playing at home. When I checked this line this morning, it had already flipped to the Hawks being road favourites.
With the Heat securing first place in the conference with their win over Charlotte on Tuesday, motivation might be a problem for them tonight. Miami has several players with lingering injuries tonight and several more who could just use some rest and a few more days off before the playoffs. It is unclear what the Heat lineup will look like tonight.
In contrast, the Hawks are playing their best ball of the season at the most important time. After struggling much of the season, Atlanta finally looks like the team that made the conference finals run in last year’s playoffs. This is a critically important game for them as well as they attempt to secure the 8th seed in the eastern conference standings. The Hawks are mostly healthy and focused at the moment I expect them to take advantage of the Heat tonight whose regular season is already finished.
