Best Bet: Clippers (+3) @ Timberwolves $$
The Clippers come into tonight riding a 6 game winning streak and look like a completely different team we have seen much of the season. They welcomed back both Paul George and Norman Powell from long absences and together they improve the prospects for their team tremendously.
This is for the most part the same team that nearly made it into the NBA finals last year. They are deep in playoff experience and grit. They also have a big advantage in coaching. While these things are not so important in the regular season, it is absolutely critical in the playoffs.
The Timberwolves made a nice leap forward this season but it is quite reasonable for them to be jittery in their first playoff game in four years. This could be especially true in a one-game series such as this. I like Minnesota’s chances better in the 8th place game in a few days’ time and I still expect them to punch their ticket to this year’s playoff.
This should be a close game but I give a clear edge to LA and I expect them to get the road victory tonight and plane tickets to Memphis.
