UFC Fight Night: A. Tsarukyan (-257) Vs M Gamrot $
Every few years the UFC tends to see dominant fighters from some geographic regions of the world. Currently, the most promising fighters are coming from Russia and other eastern European countries. This trend obviously started with Khabib Nurmagomedov who dominated the UFC lightweight division.
For many years high-level Jui-Jitsu fighters from South America were dominant. North American-style wrestling dominated for many years as well. This next generation is typified by technically precise striking combined with strong smothering grappling. Arman Tsarukyan is from Armenia and an exceptional example of this type of fighter. The only other comparable in this division is Islam Makhachev whom Armon lost to in his UFC debut in what was a very close decision. A rematch between these two fighters is quite possible but next time it may be for the lightweight belt.
Gamrot is also very talented, but I do not see him being on the same level as Tsaukyan. Gamrot likely does have better Jui-Jitsu in this matchup, but I do not see him being able to get a submission here. If he attempts too many submissions, he could find himself in a bad position and on the wrong side of some devastating ground and pound.
Tsarukyan has the power advantage in this matchup. I see him getting the stoppage in this matchup. It could be a clean knockout, or more likely a groound and pound finish after a clean knockdown. Armon is likely to be a title contender in the next 2-3 years and a win againist a very good Armot will put him on the fast route towards the title shot.
