Free NFL Picks – Week 15

NFL

What a disaster the NFL has on its hands this week with the highly contagious flu virus ravaging several teams this week including the Rams, Browns and Redskins. Keeping my political views aside, I will not be picking any games where I cannot even figure who is playing. As a result I only have a couple of plays this week.

NFL: Titans (Pk) @ Steelers $$

I have been betting against the Steelers all season and this looks like another good opportunity to do so. The Steelers defence has been giving big chunks of land to opposing RBs over the past few weeks including 207 to Dalvin Cook alone last week. Even without Derrick Henry in the line, the Titans should find success running the ball against this defensive line. Ryan Tannehill has been prone to throwing INTs this season, but I still prefer him to big Ben right now in his final season.

The Steelers are just not a good team and frankly are a bit lucky to be at .500 and still in the hunt for a playoff spot. I expect them to fade down the stretch against a tough final four games. The Titans in contrast have a knack for winning ugly, gutting out the tough games. With this line being a pick’em, I see them getting over the hump this week making the key plays when necessary.

NFL: Jets (+9.5) @ Dolphins $

The Dolphins are sporting a five game winning streak coming into this game, and well the Jets suck. But I see this game as an opportunity for Miami to play down to their opposition. The Dolphins just are not the type of team that will blow out bad teams, but often will do just enough to get the win and manage the game.

That is exactly the type of QB Tua is, a game manager. He isn’t going to give you 350 yards passing and 5 TD like many other QBs would hang on the Jets. Rather he might go 17/28 for 220 yards passing. That line might be good enough to win, but usually will not be good enough to cover a big spread.

Zach Wilson has been terrible this year and I have to admit being wrong about him. Perhaps much of the blame goes to the offensive line or even the receiving core, but he has to be better to make it the NFL. This would be a good divisional road win for Zach and the Jets. If he can go a complete game without throwing a bad interception and completing just 60%, the Jets have a chance of winning this game, or at least cover the spread.
