NFL: Broncos (+3) @ Browns $$
The Browns are in trouble and this team has a lot of downside. Cleveland still has in their subconscious that they do not belong and are only three seasons removed from an 0-16 season. The fans expect losing from this team and they have that built in as an excuse that it is OK to lose. This team has to be very careful not to slide down that slippery slope.
The Browns were absolutely terrible last week on both sides of the ball losing badly to the Cardinals 37-14. The news gets worse this week with the announcement the team will be without their starting QB Baker Mayfield for this game. But wait there is more, the Browns are also out their two stud running backs in Chubb and Hunt. Those three players are the heart of this Browns offence and they are all out. Now add 2 or 3 injuries to the offensive line, and this running game goes from the best in the NFL to one of the worst.
Case Keenum is an above average NFL backup so Mayfield’s loss alone could be overcome. But if you are expecting the your backup QB to come in and lead a passing attack with no running game and a banged up offensive line, you are asking for a repeat of the performance of just four days previous.
I’ve been burnt a couple times by the Broncos in the last couple weeks, but I still believe they have a quality defence that should find success against this undermanned Browns team.
