NFL: Packers (+7.5) @ Chiefs $$
What is going on with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? I will do my best to keep my political views out of my sports blog, but needless to say Aaron is out for this weekend’s game in KC.
The line opened at KC (-2.5) and upon news of Rodgers being declared ineligible, quickly moved all the way up to (-7.5). I am certain that this is an over-reaction by the betting public and the lines makers. I was certainly going to be betting the Packers at (+2.5) and I like this bet even better at (+7.5) even with Rodgers out.
The Packers are easily the better team in this matchup as Chief backers are still under the impression that this a Super Bowl contending team, when in reality they will be very fortunate to make the playoffs. The Chief’s defence simply has not been good enough this year and will need to play much better to get this team back into playoff contention.
I am sure Jordan Love will do a reasonable job game managing and may even pick up this win.
NFL: Titans (+7.5) @ Rams $
This is a similar theme to the previous game where there has been an over-reaction to a player injury.
The Titans were deal a major blow upon news that their stud RB Derrick Henry will miss 6-10 week for foot surgery. As bad as this news is, all is not lost for the Titans. In this era of ‘next man up’, the depth of quality in the NFL is vast. We saw this just a couple weeks ago when the Browns lost their top two RBs and the third string rookie D’Ernest Johnson stepped up in his first NFL and rushed for 157 yards in a winning effort for his team. I expect something similar from TEN in this matchup and for them to still be able to run the ball effectively with Adrian Peterson and Jeremy McNichols.
On paper these two team are very close in talent despite the love that the Rams are getting this season. This line is simply too high for a quality team like the Titans and I expect them to keep this game close and cover this spread.
