Free NFL Pick – MNF Week 1

MNF

MNF: Raiders (+4) Vs Ravens $

The LV Raiders make their first home defence in front of live fans and it is in prime time on MNF.

This is just an ugly pick and it really has little to with the strength of these two teams. I look at this (+4) line and can only see how MNF home dogs have been traditionally good picks really for decades and I see no reason why this trend should not continue. If you have to play this game it can only be on the MNF home dog.

The Ravens have a very strong team in the first couple of weeks of the season in recent years, and this means absolutely nothing. Do not waste your time looking at trends from past season to make predictions on current games. The only thing that matter is what is going to happen tonight.

The word out of the Ravens practice report is the team is facing multiple injuries already this season and they haven’t even play a single game yet. Worse yet, they are facing multiple group depth injuries in the defensive backfield. This could be a problem for the Ravens who do have depth in their defence, but we will see have far this can be stretched.

Derrick Carr had a decent season last and really he should be able to put up some points and he doesn’t need to win the game to get the cover. It is ugly, but it is either the Raiders or a pass.

MLB: Blue Jays Manoah (-128) Vs Rays Yarbrough $

I have been playing the Rays for several weeks now with some success but they seem to be letting their foot up off the gas now as their 9 game lead in the AL east looks pretty secure with just 19 to play. Rookie sensation Wander Franco finds himself on the IL for the first time in his career after being a spark plug for this team and will be missed.

The Blue Jays in contrast, are crushing everyone right now and even put up three touchdowns against BAL yesterday. They are a team resurrected from the dead in the wild card race and now are even looking down at the Yankees. I am a long time Blue Jay fan myself and even I thought they were certainly done for the season.

Alek Manoah on the mound for the Jays tonight and he has been strong most of the season and he has won his last four team starts. I would give him the advantage over Yarbrough in this spot and the emotional momentum is highly favourable to the Toronto (don’t call me Buffalo) Blue Jays.
