NBA: Raptors (-1.5) @ Spurs $
Fred VanVleet is expected back in the lineup tonight for the Raptors after missing five games with a knee injury. The Raptors have struggled in his absence now losing three games in a row. Fred is the heart and soul of this team and I expect a big boost from them with him back on the court.
The Spurs have not faired well this season in clutch time losing more than their share of close games. The Raptors have been the opposite and have come up big in pressure situations several times this season. To me, this is the difference between these two teams. With a matchup that could be close late in the fourth quarter, I’ll take Toronto to get this win.
NBA: Bucks (-4.5) vs Hawks $
This line of (-4.5) seems low to me. My first thought when I saw it was the Bucks must have a major injury. Pat Connaughton remains out with a broken hand, but that alone doesn’t constitute this line being so low. The Bucks are clearly the superior team in this matchup and laying only (-4.5) is a cheap price.
NBA: Mavericks (-8) Vs Knicks $
Spencer Dinwiddie is fitting in with the Mavericks better than I anticipated. Dallas now has a third option at guard behind Doncic and Brunson that is proving valuable. I am not sure why Spencer was underperforming in Washington, but he is producing more since the move. The Mavericks are seeing the benefits in the win column as well pulling off five straight victories.
The Knicks miraculously have now won two games in a row on this road trip after dropping their previous seven. I still do not like the Knicks because they are slow and often have problems scoring. I do not like their chances against the stout Mavericks defence in this matchup dispite their recent success.
