NBA: Hornets (-6) Vs Clippers $
The Hornets are starting to creep up the standings and now have their eyes fixed on the injury-riddled Nets for the six spot in the east. The Hornets are still one of my teams that I am looking for an excuse most days to bet on.
Charlotte is currently the highest-scoring team in the NBA, although they do tend to give up a lot of points too. Their games tend to have lopsided scores and the normal distribution of margin of victory should be adjusted. In other words, I am not too concerned about laying the big point spread at home because they do not play as many close games as other teams.
The Clippers are still hanging on to a playoff spot despite their two big stars still out. If they do manage to make the tournament they could still be dangerous, but it going to be a grind for them to get the opportunity. The Clippers are slow and offensively challenged. They are going to have problems today against the younger, faster, and more talented Hornets today on the road.
NBA: Timber Wolves (Pk) Vs Jazz $
My primary concern for the Jazz right now is obviously the health of Rudy Gobert. He is the reigning NBA defensive player of the year so his talents are not a secret. But his presence is even more important than most people even realize. The Jazz really struggle when Rudy is not in the lineup and I do not want to back them while he is out.
If the Wolves want to be considered contenders in the west, they need to win games such as this. This will be a good test for them to see if they actually belong. I am like this young Wolves team and I will be cheering for them. But I am not yet sure if they are ready.
