NBA: Warriors (-2.5) @ Pelicans $
Stephen Curry is listed is doubtful for tonight’s game in NO with a bruised quadricep he injured last night in Dallas. This news has drastically affected the line for this game. They were -4.5 against the Mavericks last night, but tonight they are laying only -2.5 against a Pelicans team that is much worse. This seems to me like an over-reaction to his absence.
The reason I still like them to win without Steph tonight is the depth of their bench. In particular Gary Payton is having a terrific year playing behind Curry and the team should not miss too much with him in the lineup. The problem comes when a guy like Chris Chiozza needs to come into the game to back up Payton, but his time should be limited.
The Pelicans are still lost and without an identity this season without Zion. They were blown out at home by a short handed Suns team in their last game. They seem to have particular troubles beating quality teams so I am not confident in their chances tonight.
