NBA: Cavaliers (-6.5) Vs Knicks $
These two team are on diverging paths.
The Knicks are still in afterglow of the NBA playoff appearance last year. But a second straight appearance is now looking like a mirage once again as the Knicks have returned to their old selves of perennial underachievers.
The Cavaliers certainly look as a team building a solid foundation for the future lead by rookie Evan Mobley. Three consecutive lottery picks are now paying dividends for Cleveland with Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro both making major contributions as well. Not only should this team make the playoffs this year, but they stack up well against many top teams in the east and could even pull a first round upset.
I still see value in betting the Cavaliers, at least for now. Their respect from the betting public and linemakers will continue to grow until it catches up to the performance of the team over the remainder of the season. For now, I do not think (-6.5) points is too many to lay for them in this matchup.
NBA: Pelicans (-3) Vs Pacers $$
The Pacers are in trouble. Indiana is without their three top players in Sabonis, Brogdon, and Turner. These are devastating loses for a team that does not have the depth to absorb mass casualties in the starting lineup. Sabonis in particular is a huge loss, but the good news is he should only be out ‘a few games’. However, as long as the Pacers are missing their three top guys, they will find their way to my betting ticket every time.
The Pelicans are without Brandon Ingram tonight, but I like the direction the team is going. The playoffs may already be out of reach for this team. I like the recent addition of Hernangomez which adds even more toughness to the team after losing Zion for the year. I look for the Pelicans to bully the Pacers tonight on the boards with Sabonis out and pick up the home win.
