The Blue Jays came through for me last night with a come-from-behind walk-off win in the 9th inning. The Blue Jays now take over first place in the MLB American League wild-card race.
MLB: Rangers [-110] (Dunning) @ Royals (Grienke) $
38-year-old Zack Grienke has a magnificent career and certainly will get some MLB hall of fame discussion went the time comes. But that is not yet here as he is still a starting pitcher for the struggling KC Royals. This is exactly the type of pitcher that I like to fade when making my bets. Greinke’s prime is now clearly behind him and when a pitcher’s quality starts to go, it can go quickly. When you combine that with a team that struggles to score runs as the Royals do, it could be a very bad year for Zach.
The Rangers are looking to get their heads back above water for the first time in a few seasons. They can hit the .500 mark for the first time this season with a win in KC today. The Rangers now have reason to be optimistic for the first time in several years. They have a positive team +/- and actually have a winning road record this year.
Dane Dunning has pitched better than his 1-5 record would suggest and can see him picking up a win today in KC.
Prop Bet: Alex Bergman TB [-1.5] (+138) $
The Astros as a team have been pounding the ball of late. They are feasting off of Mets pitching in particular with 22 runs in the three games they have played recently. Alex Bergman has covered 1.5 TBs in 6 of his last 10 games and his slugging percentage has been rising consistently for a couple of weeks now. I like this line on him today especially getting the big money line.
