I hit a nice underdog win with the Orioles (+139) in Seattle last night.
MLB: Blue Jays [-133] (Stripling) Vs Red Sox (Wacha) $
The Blue Jays took a 7-2 win last night in game 1 of this three-game series. Both teams currently hold down wild card spots in the American League but have little hope of really catching the Yankees who hold a 12-game lead in the east.
Ross Stripling has pitched ex optionally well in his first four starts of the season after coming out of the bullpen to replace injured Hyun Jin Ryu. The stat I like best for Ross is the 43K to 3HR ratio. This shows that batters are not getting good contact off him.
Michael Wacha has performed well above expectation thus far this season with a 2.34 ERA and 1.04 Whip. I feel these numbers are over-inflated a bit and I would expect his ERA to start sliding back towards the 5.00 & 1.30 mark he posted last year in Tampa Bay. He was a little fortunate in a couple of outings but that may not continue against the hard-hitting Blue Jays.
Toronto has slowed down a bit after a hot start to the MLB season. I do expect them to play better down the stretch this season than they did last year when they narrowly missed out on the playoffs. They are still a young club but assuming their starting pitching can hold up, they should return to a wild card spot this year.
