I didn’t have a free pick in MLB yesterday, but I did get an OT winning from the Avalanche in the NHL finals. Colorado has been really good to me these playoffs and spoiler alert: I will be taking them again in game five.
MLB: White Sox [-151] (Cueto) Vs Orioles (Kremer) $
This MLB series matches one team that has underperformed so far this season and another that has overperformed. This suggests value to me here on the home team from Chicago. As the season progresses, I expect the White Sox to pull themselves back into the wild-card race. I would expect the Orioles to slide back down to the bottom of the standings where they seem more comfortable.
Dean Kremer makes his fourth start of the season for the Orioles and he has actually been a pleasant surprise thus far for the Orioles. But I am not yet ready to put him in the quality starter category. I would need to see at least 50 IP before I would make a serious adjustment for him. His career ERA is still over 6.00 so I am leaning towards keeping him in the young prospect category for now.
Veteran Johnny Cueto goes for the White Sox. He is having a bit of a resurgence so far this year. At least he is a known asset for Chicago and should be reasonably reliable. Chicago also has a solid advantage in the bullpen over Baltimore.
All those things plus home-field makes me feel (-151) is not too much to lay on the favourite in this matchup.
